Demleitner was among several women mentioned by NPR as a long-shot contender for the seat.
"The president was true to his word. He said he wanted a person with a great judicial mind and at the same time has a common touch and I think Judge Sotomayor does combine the two of them. She has a great legal career - from the district attorney's office all the way to the Second Circuit. . . . She definitely strikes me like somebody who can create and form majorities, which I think is very important. . . . I think she will bring that kind of down-to-earth type of personality to the court. And, she's obviously very bright and on the Second Circuit you see many of the major legal questions before you. She has had time and opportunity to think about them already."
