Professors Alafair Burke and Bennett Capers Discuss the HBO Series “The Wire”
Earlier this year, Professors Alafair Burke and Bennett Capers were among the presenters in a roundtable discussion, "And All the Pieces Matter...Thoughts on 'The Wire,'" at the annual meeting of the Law & Society Association in Chicago. Other panelists included Susan Bandes (DePaul), Jeffrey Fagan (Columbia), David Sklansky (Berkeley), and David Simon, the creator of both ‘The Wire’ and ‘Treme.’ Now, Professors Burke and Capers have posted their essays discussing ‘The Wire.’ The essays will be published in the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law in a mini-symposium that Professor Capers is guest-editing. Professor Burke’s essay is titled “I Got the Shotgun: Reflections on ‘The Wire,’ Prosecutors, and Omar Little.” Professor Capers’s essay is titled “Crime, Legitimacy, Our Criminal Network, and ‘The Wire.’”
