On Monday, February 8, 2010, Professor I. Bennett Capers presented his paper “Real Rape Too” at Willamette School of Law in Salem, Oregon. The presentation was part of a faculty workshop.

Associate Professor of Law I. Bennett Capers participated as a commentator at the Young Scholars Roundtable, a two-day gathering of young criminal law and criminal procedure scholars, hosted by Vanderbilt Law School. The Roundtable included scholars from several law schools, including Michigan, U.Va., Wash. U., and Berkeley.

Professor I. Bennett Capers was elected Program Chair of the AALS Section on Law and the Humanities at this year’s AALS Annual Meeting.

Professor I. Bennett Capers was recently elected Secretary of the AALS Section on Criminal Justice. It is a one-year position.

Professors I. Bennett Capers and Akilah N. Folami each contributed chapters to African American Culture and Legal Discourse, a collection of legal essays edited by Lovalerie King and Richard Schur, and published by Palgrave MacMillan. The chapter by Professor Capers is titled “Reading Back, Reading Black, and Buck v. Bell.” The chapter by Professor Folami is titled “The Telecommunications Act of 1996 and the Overdevelopment of Gangsta Rap.”
